Are you a Twilight fan?

Whether you like or love the Twilight series you should come to Modesto Library's Teen Twilight Extravaganza. The event will be on Monday, November 16 at 4 p.m. in the downstairs auditorium. There will be trivia, discussion of all things Twilight, and a chance to win tickets to see the new movie, "New Moon."  And of course, food and drink will be provided.

Anime Day

The library is planning an Anime Day to take place next year.  We've got lots of great ideas, but we're looking for input from teens.  Help us out by taking a survey.

Read like a Rock Star! @ your library

Teens between the ages of 12 and 19 can join our Teen SRC: Read like a Rock Star.
There are two ways to participate:

1.  Pick up a bingo card at your local Stanislaus County Library Branch starting June 1st. Grand Prize Drawing is for an iPod!

2.  Or you can enter our drawing for book store certificates online by writing a review!

Twilight movie

The much anticipated and long awaited Twilight movie is almost here. Friday, November 21 is the magic day when fans of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series get to see Bella and Edward on the big screen.  If your haven't read Twilight or would like to read it again, you can put a hold on it at the library.

Ceres Library Twilight Contest Winners

The Ceres Library had a Teen Twilight Contest for the book "Breaking Dawn" by Stephenie Meyer donated by a friend of the library. Participants had to tell us who their favorite Twilight character was and why.  Twenty+ teens participated in the contest.  The two lucky winners were Michael and Alex!  Congratulations to you and enjoy "Breaking Dawn"!

Teen Events Listserv!

Hey Teens!  Want to be alerted when there are teen events going on in the Library?  Send an email to teens@scfl.lib.ca.us and we'll add you to our new listserv.  We'll let you know when we have Teen Movie Night like last week's, or when we have prizes to hand out!

Teen movie next week

Next week, on Wednesday, August 20, the Modesto Library will be having a teen movie night from 6-8 p.m.  Come see a favorite classic movie!  I can't say the name of the movie, but it's based on a book and there's storybook love, revenge on a six-fingered man, awesome sword-fights, the Pit of Despair and ROUS's.  Inconceivable you say?  As you wish.  There will also be snacks and the opportunity to gives us your opinion about future programs at the library.

Summer Reading Club Ends Friday, August 15!

Children and teens can visit any of our 13 branches to collect their prizes.  Be sure to collect your prizes by August 15!  The teen prize drawing is on Friday, August 22 and the winning teens will be notified shortly thereafter.  Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's SRC!

New Stephenie Meyer book

Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer came out Saturday.  Has anyone finished it?  I'm still trying to get through the second book, which is definitely not Meyer's best.  I've heard the third one is very good, but how does the this new book compare to the rest of the series?

Trailer for upcoming Harry Potter movie

The movie trailer for the new Harry Potter movie made it's debut yesterday.  Based on J.K. Rowling's novels, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is the sixth book in the seven part series and the latest one to be made into a movie.  Some reviewers are calling this latest movie the darkest yet, based on the trailer, but anyone who's read the books knows how they transitioned to more adult themes as the series progressed.  From the small amount of movie actually shown in the preview, it looks to be another good addition to the movie franchise.  Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is due to be released in theaters November 21.
